The Editorial Desk is not a person. It is the byline Curio uses when a story does not belong to one section, when it was researched and written across the desk, or when it was assembled from the desk's own reporting queue rather than commissioned to a section.
It carries more stories than any single section byline, and that is deliberate rather than accidental: a great deal of what Curio publishes is straightforward retelling of a documented event, where the useful work is sourcing, checking and clear ordering rather than a distinctive authorial voice.
The desk is responsible for the things that are nobody's beat and everybody's problem: verifying claims that appear in more than one section, keeping terminology consistent between them, issuing corrections, and deciding what does not get published. When a piece carries this byline, the publisher named in the imprint is accountable for it.
If you have a correction, this is the address to use. Corrections are made in the article itself and the modification date is updated; we do not quietly edit and pretend the first version never existed.
The Editorial Desk is a shared byline, not an individual.
The publisher accountable for all content on this site is Curio,
represented by Serkan Denizbey. See our
editorial policy for how stories are researched,
checked and corrected.
