Curio publishes true stories that sound made up: documented events from history, science, film, culture and everyday life, retold clearly and sourced openly.
What we are trying to do
Most of these stories already exist somewhere — in an archive, a paper, a court record, a production diary. They are usually told badly: either flattened into a listicle or buried in language nobody outside the field can read. We try to tell them properly, keep the interesting parts, and say plainly which bits are solid and which are still argued about.
How we work
Every article starts from a documented source, which is linked at the foot of the piece. Claims are checked against independent references. Where something could not be confirmed, it is marked as unconfirmed in the text instead of being asserted or quietly dropped. Our Editorial Policy sets out the process, including how our production workflow is assisted by automated tools.
Bylines
Each section carries a consistent editor byline. These are editorial identities for a section, not claims that one individual wrote every sentence. The publisher accountable for everything here is Curio, represented by Serkan Denizbey.
